Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
You are going to hear a lot of heart wrenching stories about the Newcastle Knights this week, and about how they are going to win the NRL Grand Final. Don’t believe a word of them. The Roosters are absolute certainties. Toia and Radley will take out Ponga, shut him down and out of the game. […]
Have you heard the one about the so called terrorists planning to bomb an airstrip in a rural village in England? The group of five that Donald Trump claimed that the USA had been tracking for yonks? It is all bullshit. Each of the five have been released on bail. Real terrorists never get bail. […]
We have been harsh critics of acting Racing QLD CEO Lachlan Murray, mainly because rightly or wrongly we believe a true racing man should lead the State’s principal racing authority, but on the evidence before us in the RQ annual report we have to say on an interim basis that perhaps we were wrong. Murray […]
Story by Richard Callander https://www.racenet.com.au/news/warwoven-for-cox-plate-blue-door-for-everest-trainer-baker-wont-die-wondering-richard-callander-says-20260927 Peter V’landys has gone. Don’t take sides, just applaud the man for what he has done. In his 22 year tenure V’landys secured $3.5 billion in new funding with new recurring annual revenues of $375 million. He raised the Saturday prizemoney of Sydney racing from $45,000 per race to $160,000 […]
LAUGHING STOCK IS WHAT THEY ARE I noted five more downgrades have been listed by that Asian committee now having the say about what happens in Australia. The Adelaide Cup, the ATC Chairman’s Handicap, the Brisbane Cup and the West Australian Derby have all gone from Group 2 to Group 3 and the Launceston Cup […]
How does an 8-year-old mare rated NR40 that has had 121 starts and never won a race in faster than 2.01.04 suddenly come out in a weak race at Globe Derby on a Monday afternoon and equal the track record set two tears ago by a topline NR120 rated trotter? You tell me. But yesterday […]
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CBge98JTPyM The tackle that broke Nathan Cleary’s leg was not a “hip drop” done with intention. It was a random collision. Contact was made, the body swung around the ball carrier, momentum carried him down. That is rugby league. It’s not a crime scene. Should defenders let go of a player they have hold of […]
Story by John Lingard, https://letsgohorseracing.com.au/punters-questioning-reason-for-form-slump-of-their-champ-jamie-melham/ A legion of fans of champion lady jockey JAMIE MELHAM are asking ‘have the wheels fallen off’ her riding career this season? Their reason: Only two wins from her last 50 rides and 23 losers since she saluted on Satono Glow in the Group 3 Cap D’Antibes at Flemington on […]
Long simmering tensions overflowed yesterday at Globe Derby yesterday, culminating in a major dust up between drivers Corey Johnson and Wayne Hill that ended up in the wild scenes depicted in the video above. We don’t the know what sparked the melee, or who was responsible for the violence that ensued, but we are told […]
Licenses trainer in semi-retirement Mark ‘Boof’ Currie has been outed for 6 months after he pleaded guilty to presenting a horse to race at Warwick on Boxing Day last year with Phenylbutazone (Bute) in its system. It seems to me to be quite an outrageously excessive penalty, one handed down on Boof Currie due to […]
