Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Dear Bentleys I note with huge disappointment that your firm has become a naming sponsor of a new horse race at Rockhampton named the Archer. I am the author of a popular racing website, and have become aware that the family that the race is named after were involved in the dispossession of indigenous Australians […]
Uncle Milty was up in Port Douglas yesterday. He parked his bike with the I Love Straddie sticker on Macrossan Street, outside the entrance to the Nautilus restaurant. People said he was here to meet with Uncle Errol from Edge Hill about the Captain Cook statue takedown campaign, but it’s not true. The great man […]
The great problem with modern racing administrators is that they don’t know Australian history, or when it comes to black history – the real history of our land – they seek to deny it anyway. Those who run racing glorify black dispossession, murder and slavery instead. The more things change, the more they stay the […]
Horse of the Year – Verry Ellegant Her Cup made a bird of it. What a great galloper she is, a true champion. He’s a brilliant mentor that Darren Weir isn’t he? Stayer of the Year – Verry Ellegant No need for any explanation. Middle Distance Stayer of the Year – Verry Ellegant There were […]
I don’t know that punters this Xmas will be decking the halls with bows of lolly, for it seems to be the season to fall off-eee. On Monday we had Dean Yendall go tumbling from a plunge horse at Terang when it was so far in the front that it decided to duck in and […]
You read our story yesterday about Globe Derby only having had enough horses entered to put 6 races on Saturday night’s card. Well the reason is that all the good horses went to Mildura to race last night. I counted 21 of them, which is a hell of a lot considering the distance they had […]
Justin Fung, son of Hong Kong Tony. This bloke looks like he can run a $500 million racing empire doesn’t he? And elephants can climb trees. Oh, by the way, this is where his Dad was going to build an international port, and a world class casino. Michael King is another bloke that we have […]
The Thrill of the Chase is a really brilliant program commissioned by Greyhound Racing Victoria and broadcast on demand on Seven Plus. It’s essentially a greyhound industry program similar to Thoroughbred Weekly or In The Gig, and like those on those shows the presenters know their stuff and are really good at relating it. This […]
Channel 7 is broadcasting Thrill of the Chase again … and advertisers aren’t happy. Ads are being placed during the program without the knowledge of companies. They are filler ads, decided by the TV station not by the advertiser. Once they’re informed, advertisers are quick to distance themselves from this industry spin program and greyhound […]
Uncle George and Aunty Dawn on their wedding day. Maureen Garrard (Angus’s Grandma), her sister Aunty Karen Shea and my Dad were in the bridal party. The 15 people Australia wide involved in the vegan activist group Coalition For the Protection of Greyhounds (CPG) are earnest, but not very bright. What you see above […]
