Vale Mal Charlton, a Good Man

Mal Charlton (right), with great mate and driver Steven Doherty. Rest in peace.

I was very sad to hear of the passing this week of Mal Charlton, a much loved and highly respected member of the Queensland trotting community.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Mal a couple of times over the years at the trots, and didn’t really know him as a person at all, but a lot of people that I know did, and to a man and woman they spoke very highly of him, and held him in universal regard.

These are people that are held in very high regard themselves, so their praise is worth plenty, and told me everything I needed to know about Mal.

He was a good man, and harness racing is poorer for his passing.

On behalf of all our readers we pass our condolences and deepest sympathies to the Charlton family.
