The Waller Trained Horse Who Lost a Leg – Queensland Racing Stinks

Merimee winning at Doomben, looking like Bernborough

Three and a half weeks ago the Chris Waller trained 3YO filly Merimee beat a good class field in a Saturday metropolitan race at Doomben, and looked liked Bernborough in doing it.

Yesterday the now rating 70 filly stepped out again on the polytrack at the Sunshine Coast against a five horse field of walkers.

Merimee blew like a gale in the betting from $1.30 out to $2.05.

Punters thought she must have lost a leg.

They were right.

Waller’s filly had a great run off a hot speed, but couldn’t go a yard.

She got beaten 4.8 lengths into 4th place in the 5 horse field.

The winner was a rating 58 galloper trained by Robert Heathcote.

It was backed off the map.

The Stewards Report into the race is listed as pending.

No explanation has been given as to why.

The reports usually go up within an hour of the last race.

Something is rotten in Queensland racing.

Most rotten indeed.
