The news overnight that Self Assured won’t be lining up in the NZ Trotting Cup in 12 days time comes as no great surprise to those who were aware that owner Jean Fiess had been privately expressing great concern about her great pacer’s lacklustre performance at Kaikoura on Monday, and mulling over whether to pull the pin.
