Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
The word on Manchester Street is that Wooden Beach trainer Cam Jones has been DQ’d for 18 months after pleading guilty to administering gear to one of his horses prior to a race. Jones apparently copped the discount for pleading guilty, not that he really had any choice after the Canary (unregistered syndicator, trainer, and […]
Friday a week ago trainers Steve and Amanda Telfer presented a horse to race at Alexandra Park without its notified removable deafeners. The horse was the favourite. It got beat. This was the 3rd time in about 4 months the Telfers had raced a horse without it wearing the gear that they had told punters […]
What you see at the top are the results from race 5 at Otaki in New Zealand yesterday. The picture was taken 12 hours after the race was run and won, but as you can see Sportsbet say that they are still waiting for a result. There is a reason for that. They can’t find […]
Everyone in the thoroughbred and harness racing industries both in NZ and Australia knows that the greatest issue in either sport is the use of performance enhancing drugs (PED’s). Certain leading stables in both codes are implementing wholesale doping programs to gain an edge on their rivals, and it is making them millions of dollars […]
I cannot believe what I am reading here. This is a message to harness racing from the Chairman of the Board (pictured above). If HRNZ were fair dinkum it would be John Coulam’s farewell note as Chairman as well. The depth of his lack of understanding of the realities of modern racing are astounding. What […]
The picture above that you see of the bottle with the red cap was taken at the Woodend Beach, Christchurch stables of the training partnership of Robert and Jenna Dunn, the part of the operation managed by Dunn’s son John, aka Lurch. The obvious inference to be drawn is that Lurch is using this ‘herbal […]
John ‘Lurch’ Dunn, the man in charge of the Woodend Beach end of his family’s Diamond Racing operation, was in Auckland on Friday night driving Sundees Sun, the wonder trotter who broke the national record for 2700m by an unheard of clear 4 seconds (over 50 metres) in the NZ Trot. There only other runner […]
I see this Mark Jones has been training a few winners over in the NZ South Island lately. He’d want to wouldn’t he? After all, he’s got a fair bit of shame to wash off after losing his best horse Stylish Memphis to Turbo Trainor, both in Australia and abroad. It’s a shame that the […]
Before ….. The Christians reckon that the greatest gift of all is the atonement of Jesus Christ. That’s typical happy clapping nonsense spouted by do-gooders who don’t punt. Everyone with half a brain knows that the greatest gift is a gift wrapped couple of bottle of Menangle’s finest. Delivered by a bloke who feels guilty […]
Zach Butcher has copped a lash here. Fair enough too. But what about the Stewards and the starter? Isn’t it their job to make sure that horses are in their right place? Mr Butcher admitted a charge in that he permitted his mare to start from the incorrect barrier position in Race 8. Mr Mulcay […]
