Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Starvecchio in the pink colors was backed from $3.10 into $1.90 to win race 2 at the Sunshine Coast yesterday. It lost, after racing extremely ungenerously and pulling its head off. The Stewards have launched an inquiry into the ride, the tactics and the run. I for one am not quite sure why. The horse […]
Kyle Wilson Taylor, in the yellow and black diamonds near the inside, has copped a 3 meeting suspension for severely interfering with rival rider Ben Price, costing his mount all chance in the race and nearly sending Price over the fence. It’s a pretty light suspension when set against the severity of the interference caused. […]
23 acceptors were scratched from Saturday’s Julia Creek meeting because there was no jockey there to ride them. There were only 51 runners set to be on the card. Which means that almost half of them were scratched. That’s ridiculous of an in itself. But here is the real crazy bit. The Stewards allowed Tanya […]
Kyle Wilson-Taylor made a hit and run mission to Morphettville on Saturday on his way to New Zealand, and gave the locals a demonstration about why jockeys in QLD no longer like riding against him because of his oft disrespect for the rules and for their safety. Watch KWT nearly put rival rider Ben Price […]
Hi Archie, I hardly bet Qld Country, and hardly ever bet week days because my pocket doesnt go deep enough (editors note: I am not sure if that is quite true). But when your coat tails are pulled and you hear of an in form horse travelling a 1400km round trip to have a run […]
Luke Tarrant appeared in court again yesterday. I wonder how he is going. He could have been a champion, and for a while was, but now he is just a bum. What a waste of an early part of a life. Drugs do that to you kiddies, along with other things. The latter before the […]
We have been writing for a while about former gun apprentice Jaden Lloyd’s loose approach to his craft and the strictures that that the rules of racing impose upon what he and other jockeys can and can’t do, and we have been saying that if Lloyd continues to ignore those restraints the consequences could be […]
Take a look at this ride of Zac Lloyd’s on the heavily backed Tellurium in the first at Newcastle yesterday. It came down the outside and was home to the world thanks to a beautifully timed ride by Lloyd. And then he sat up without cause, and very nearly got it beaten. What the kid […]
Story by John Lingard – letsgohorseracing.com.au THE prayers of the racing world are with the family of one of Australia’s favorite jockeys, Cyril Small, who is fighting to survive a massive stroke. Small, 67, best remembered as the rider of the legendary galloper, Vo Rogue, was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital on Saturday. (PHOTO […]
There was much conjecture that Japanese jockey Shuichi Terachi may have jumped off his mount at Port Augusta a couple of weeks ago. We came out and said that was nonsense, and declared that the kid fell not hauled off. Well guess what? The Stewards report is out now, and it is confirmed that the […]
