Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
Teenage jockey Billy Loughnane claimed a shock 80-1 victory on outsider Rashabar on day one at Royal Ascot. The 18-year-old landed his first win at the meeting in the Coventry Stakes by a nose from Electrolyte. “This is the best feeling in the world,” said Loughnane, who won in the green and blue colours of […]
In the quest to try and find a story during a drought we decided to take a look at the jockeys around the nation with the top metropolitan winning strike rates (10 wins or more). The search results threw up the usual suspects, with a couple of Territorians thrown in. Thanks to his 18 wins […]
Michael Poy was allegedly communicating with the punter who was paying him for information on which horses to back and which ones to lay using disappearing messages on the encrypted app Signal. That sounds like an excellent idea if you are fixing races by pulling horses up, because the last think you want to do […]
Most of us will remember Willie Wonka’s ever lasting gobstopper that he manufactured in the Chocolate Factory. The QRIC Stewards from the Home Hill meeting on the 28th of December last year obviously liked it, for they have adopted the approach when it comes to adjourned inquries. They never end. What a superb ride it was by James McDonald on Romantic Warrior in the Yasuda Kined yesterday. Simply outstanding. You will never see one better in your life. If J-Mac’s not the best jockey in the world then I don’t know who is. Just watch this work of art and tell me that you disagree. […]
Once upon a time the jockeys who rode in central Queensland lived in central QLD, but a combination of cheap air fares and a diminishing pool of riders in the country changed all that. Now days a large bulk of the jockeys riding in the region are mercenaries from Brisbane or one of the coasts, […]
Tyler Leslight (above), pictured with former master Billy Johnson In a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black transgender apprentice Tyler Leslight could find himself in hot water after rival rider Wanderson D’vila accused the kid of making a racist remark toward him after the line in race 6 at Townsville yesterday. It’s […]
There was a stack of money for the winner of the 4th race at Ipswich yesterday Majestic Boom, and the smarties who backed the promising 4yo from 3.90 into 2.15 landed the cash. Punters who backed the unplaced 2nd favorite Devastating didn’t have so much luck. A number of them were wondering after the race […]
