Always back the horse named self-interest, son. It'll be the only one trying
I am no fan of Alex Ashwood. In fact I reckon he’s an ugly, freckle faced dickhead without a big mouth and small balls. But fair is fair, and you gotta give credit where credit is due. Ashwood’s drive on Major Fire in the 8th race at Melton last night was simply superb, as good […]
What you see at the top is what driver David Moran told the world before the race about his firm driving tactics on Captain Hammerhead in the Singo at Menangle last Saturday night . Moran backed up his statement just 90 seconds before the race when he told the on-track presenter the same thing. These […]
Race 8 Globe Derby. Six horse field. The market opens with Cyclone S Adams $1.90. It blows out the door to $3.30. Uncle Louis is $2.70. It drifts to $3.20. Hurricane Ed is $4.80. There is a little bit of dough for it but not much, and it lands at $3.70 at the jump. Magic […]
There was seriously wrong with the Stonewall mare Ardie’s Express in the main race at Addington on Friday night. Ardie’s went off as 2nd favourite and led until halfway around the turn before galloping free of any checks, but she never, ever seemed comfortable at any stage of the race and just wasn’t pacing quite […]
Misterfourthousand is a wee 2-year-old who at his first prep was good enough to win a heat of the Gold Crown. He has panels on the lower class pacers running around at Bathurst on a Wednesday night in NR 48 races, despite being only a pup. Which is why he started at $1.12 off the […]
I can’t quite work out what went on here in the 7th race at Newcastle yesterday.. So I will have a guess. Summit Bloodstock and Aaron Bain had 2 horses in the race. Dollarsign was trained and driven by Brad Elder, Baker Creek was trained by Darren Elder and driven by Blake Hughes. Baker Creek […]
The bets were on, and now it was time to go. They score up behind the mobile and the first thing we see is that the horse who has been backed from $7.50 into $4.80 in the final seconds of betting Dollarsign is in a muck lather of sweat. Horses who sweat like that before […]
After trying twice to get to the lead and give him a sit, Lleyton Green has realised that Blake Hughes on Baker Creek is either a lunatic or driving a drugged up horse or both, and has resigned himself to a trip spent in the breeze. Green takes hold of Pikarso, and when he does […]
Funny things happen in racing. At the trots drivers who can’t count time sometimes make them happen. And irony abounds. Blake Hughes went too fast on Baker Creek in the 3rd quarter, even with whatever drugs were in it. He stuffed it up. The hot horse kicked on and lead until the last 30 metres, […]
The rule is very clear isn’t it? A driver is not allowed to talk to anyone other than an official once they are on the track. That includes during the running of a race. Got it? Now watch this. Driver Bernie Hewitt in the white with red clearly turns his head and talks to Taleah […]
