| Hi Archie,
I have very much this year to date been sitting back watching and listening to different media comments around how racing in Queensland is traveling around numerous issues. The smokes and mirrors around RQ and QRIC do your head in.
Consultation processes with either RQ and QRIC with Industry are what I would call not normal to what I have experienced through out my work life. Generally industry appear to have the code advisory committee, QRIC Stakeholder Group (fairly new), Welfare committee and Sub committee’s. QRIC shut things down when the questions get too hard is my experience. Remove you from the committee and don’t answer your questions from emails.
The meeting process is a closed shop, no input to Agenda Items before meetings for industry people in general. No minutes published for industry people to read and get some idea on what may being talked about and where discussions are going.
What has come out of the QRIC stakeholder meetings apart from being a information session?
I would say the recent QRIC debacles have been questioned and fallen on deaf ears. I mean you think you have agreed processes in place that have been put in place to look after ALL and QRIC decide not to follow them and cost industry hard earn money losses.
I have questioned Heat Stress policy and the lack of resources and all I got was an answer that we would have to fund that equipment. Really if you have any policy that requires resources wouldn’t you provide them ! Otherwise like I said you policy isn’t worth anything.
Real consultation and transparency by good processes isn’t something I see currently from either RQ or QRIC as closed shop appears to be part of both organizations DNA. Remember they had a meeting a few years ago around the alliance group time , with the brain storming finishing on butchers paper and those not invited to this day have never seen what was discussed in writing.
I would like to see a full review of governance as it is not very open for ALL of industry.
Just a couple of things!! |
