Following on your article “Who’s in charge of the SA Circus now?”

The links above are for the positions of HRSA Senior Steward and Stipendiary Steward.

The Stipendiary Stewards add was from 13/3/25 and applications were to Chairman of Stewards. It looks like they’ve had two (2) interested persons and they appear in stewards reports as ‘cadets’ – Danaher and Kidd.

The Senior Steward add was placed 25/8/25 and closed 29/8/25 – wow – you either had to be quick off the mark or IN THE KNOW. Applications to be directed to the HRSA CEO Pocock.

The add reads for ‘SENIOR’ steward – but the position information certainly reads like CHAIRMAN – it appears changing the title of Chairman is to somewhat fall in line with GRSA (Jonas) and TRSA (Petzer)?

Will HRSA divide the role of Chairman to be Senior Steward (Racing) and Integrity Manager?

It was interesting that a former steward – Daryl Southgate -who worked with/under Styles when he was previously Chair – and also a senior steward with GRSA – returned to work with Styles – but seemingly pulled pin just prior to the advertisement for a new HRSA Senior Steward – was he led to believe he may have been considered for the top job.

Also waiting in the wings was Peter Lawrence who I believe spat the dummy when he missed out on EWEN’s vacancy – then it took and eternity to find a replacement then with Graham LOCH as a temporary (almost permanent) replacement.

Former Chair of Stewards – Simon EWEN – left ‘to pursue other interests’ but after a short hiatus continued to be involved chairing meetings, stewarding, starting and racing appeals – will he return as ‘Senior Steward’?

The only thing that Styles has done was to get his revenge against Shane LOONE – the rest IMO has been a dog’s breakfast.

The tail continues to wag the dog – perhaps the add should have read ‘Ring Master’ for the HRSA Circus.

Thanks for your time.

Editor’s note – On the topic of Trevor Styles we are reliably informed that he has been appointed to replace Neil Finnegan as Chief Steward Harness in Tasmania. We wish him luck.
