Rainbows and Dreams – A Tale of Two Weight Divisions – Kings of the World – The Little Champion and the Big Boxer Land a Knockout Blow

King Kulafu’s got rainbows on the soles of his feet

Tamworth pacer King Kulafu is owned by my great mate the Boxer, the former heavyweight champion of NSW, and a one-time contender for the Australian title back when the man who twice went the distance with Ali, the incomparable Joe Bugner, owned it.

The King and the Boxer look a bit alike too.

Big, strong and pretty.

King Kulafu’s trainer Dean Chapple could be their mirror image.

Dean’s pretty enough, don’t you worry about that, and he’s strong too, but Dean’s ball of muscle is wrapped in a tiny knee high to a grasshopper 48 kg frame, which puts him in the little heard of minimumweight class of boxing, one below a light flyweight, and a massive 16 divisions below his owner and horse.

It’s not the size of the dog in the fight though, it’s the size of the fight in the dog, and D. Chapple has plenty.

So do the Boxer and King Kulafu.

It’s been a rocky road since the Triple Threat of King, Box, and DC teamed up.

There have been checks, gallops, rough paces, staff shortages, heartbreaks, injuries, slips, falls and plenty of frustration.

But challenges in life are meant to test you, and you can never keep good men down.

The Triple Threat proved it last night.

Word out of Tamworth and Balmain is that they won plenty too, and the pub TABS in both places were running dry.

Left, right, left.

Bang, bash, boom.

Knockout!

One for the good guys.

There will be plenty more.
