I think Williams was also to blame for initially rolling out on Anamoe before State Of Rest started his inward movement.
It was clearly going to be dismissed.
One cancelled the other out and the sensible decision was to leave the result as it was. There was a little bit of interference, but it was both ways. In a situation like that, you can’t take it away from one and give it to the other.
John ‘The Sheriff’ Shrek on the Cox Plate protest.
The Sheriff is 100% correct.
Anamoe came out two horse widths prior to the bump with State Of Rest.
If Craig Williams had kept his line it simply wouldn’t have happened, and when the two horses collided John Allen’s horse was wider than where he started, so the shift in is a beat up.
It didn’t cost Anamoe an inch more than it cost State Of Rest anyway.
Quite the opposite in fact, for it was Allen who stopped riding and straightened, not Williams.
Ray Murrihy reckons we need to look at it in normal speed to decide, rather than slow it down.
He is a dinosaur.
Technology helps us become more accurate, and we need to use it.
Danny Nikolic summed it up best when he said
In my opinion it wasn’t a bad decision either way.
I don’t agree with Nik on the each way call, but it is a fair summary.
Ignoring Pork Pie Ray, let’s slow it down and have a look.
What do you reckon?
PS – D. Nikolic tipped me the winner on Wednesday. Stupidly I ignored him. Danny is not only one of the best Australian jockeys of the 21st century, he is one of the best judges of form too. I guess the two attributes go hand in hand.
