Happy 50th Hollywood!

Hadyn ‘Hollywood’ Flynn Jnr clocks up his half century this morning, although of course he’s telling everyone who will listen that he is only 48, just like he was was on the 8th of June the 2 years before.

It’s a bit of a jealousy thing because his sister is actually older and much better looking, but you don’t get the nickname Hollywood because you run around with unwashed hair wearing dirty jeans do you? He will tell you he is only 48 today, but you’d want to see a thrice certified copy of his birth certificate before you’d believe it.

Hollywood is a man for all seasons, who has packed more into his half a decade on this earth than most us could fit in if we lived to 200.

Teacher, School Administrator, Rugby League broadcaster extra0rdinaire, Bookmaker, Golf Parter of former gun jockey Ian Toward, bunny of the man who beat the Great White Shark my man Sticky Dyer, Mr Cool of the weekly Manila school, husband, father, brother of a good sort, son and friend. And a whole lot more things that I have forgotten.

The only thing our man hasn’t achieved yet is becoming the Mayor of Atherton, but that’s only because he knows never to go before the clock tower and has been holding off to the 50 year and 250m  mark before he tries. The robes and the chains are a looming certainty when H. Flynn Jr. announces his run.

Happy Birthday from all of us Hollywood!

Your present’s in the mail, and Dad’s one to you too.It might take a while to arrive. The posties have pulled a strike so they all can come up the range on their scooters to help you celebrate. Bastards will probably lose it anyway.

May the next 50 years be as great as the first.

And so say all of us.

Even the Chipmunks.

PS – Just in case you don’t get it, our present was a new tie, to make you look the part in the run for Mayor.
