A Four-Legged Lottery

Welcome to Far North QLD, the Third World – A Water Deprived Paradise Where No Mango Should Ever Have to Hang From a Council Pruned, Drought Ridden Tree

We live just around the corner from the street in which this story is filmed.

It’s paradise.

Or it used to be at least.

But now here we are watching an oft incommunicative Mayor with bling in his ear grinning and telling us that every time it rains we won’t have any water, and there there is nothing that he as civic leader of our town he can do about it, and Smiles the clown of a Premier sits there assuring us that he will do anything to help, but doesn’t offer to stump up the $13 million that the Mayor tells us that we need to be able to hydrate, shower, flush our dunnies after having a Franz Liszt or an Edgar Britt, and live like human beings in one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

Are this pair of grinning idiots kidding?

What is this, Bangladesh or something?

Australia is not the 3rd world, and Port Douglas certainly should not be.

And tell me. what does our laughing clown of a Mayor think that going on TV and telling us that it’s the no water stakes every time there is precipitation is going to impel his fine citizens to run out and do?

Go and fill up their buckets and their bins and their containers and anything else that will store H2O in too perhaps?

Duh, go figure.

Forget all the weasel words and the excuses this pair utter.

The situation up here in Paradise is intolerable, inexcusable, and an absolute disgrace.

Neither the Mayor nor the Premier are doing the jobs they are handsomely paid to do properly.

Vote both of these non-performers out as soon as you get the chance.

Who knows, we might all get some water flowing from our taps properly then.

Editor’s Note

These comments are not endorsed by my wife, who loves this little kitsch tourist town of ours.

As do I.

I just hate not having water, and the stench of sewerage that the absence of it creates.

It’s totally uncivilized, and we good Australians all deserve better.
